The Set Extended Depreciation window displays the results of the query executed using the parameters in the Find Eligible Assets window.
Use this window to record the decision of whether or not a particular asset should be available for extended depreciation
For every asset, set the Avail Extended Depreciation field to:
Yes
No
Defer Decision

Once you have indicated the extended depreciation decision for the assets, click the Submit button to launch the process of changing the depreciation method and depreciation limit for those assets.
The concurrent program launched, executes the following processes:
For all assets for which the Avail Extended Depreciation is set to Yes:
Depreciation method is changed to the JP-STL Extended Depreciation method (JP-STL EXTND).
Internal Extended Depreciation flag is set to Yes.
Final depreciable limit is set to the value specified by the user in the Set Extended Depreciation window.
First period from when the extended depreciation is to be expensed is stored on the asset record.
Asset cost to be used as the basis for calculation of depreciation is set as: (Cost - Accumulated Depreciation - Final Depreciable limit).
Where the first period of depreciation is the first period of the current fiscal year, the catch-up depreciation, if any, is calculated and expensed in the current period.
For all assets where the Avail Extended Depreciation is set to No or Defer Decision, the internal Extended Depreciation flag is set accordingly.
The normal depreciation program picks up the assets selected for extended depreciation based on the First Period specified for individual assets.
In order to access the Set Extended Depreciation Window, set the FA: Japan 2007 Tax Reforms Features profile option to Yes.
