The components of Oracle Workflow require the following hardware and software configurations.
Oracle Workflow Builder is installed using Oracle Universal Installer. For details, see: Oracle Workflow Client Installation Guide.
The Oracle Workflow Builder installation includes the Oracle Net Services and Required Support Files which it requires. You should install Oracle Workflow Builder on a system with the following:
A supported version of Microsoft Windows, as listed in Recommended Set Up for Client/Server Products with Oracle E-Business Suite 11i and R12, My Oracle Support Document 277535.1
At least 65 Mb of available disk space to install Oracle Workflow Builder, Oracle Net Services, and Required Support Files
At least 32 Mb of memory, 64 Mb recommended
Note: Oracle Net Services require and only support the use of Microsoft's TCP/IP drivers.
The Oracle Workflow Server requires the following:
The Oracle E-Business Suite technology stack, including an installation of the Oracle Database in a version supported by Oracle E-Business Suite. See: Oracle E-Business Suite Installation Guide: Using Rapid Install.
Oracle Net Services, corresponding to the version of your Oracle Database
SQL*Plus, corresponding to the version of your Oracle Database
To send and receive e-mail notifications, you must have an SMTP mail server set up for outbound messages and an IMAP4 compliant mail server set up for inbound messages.
If you want to connect through Transport Layer Security (TLS) or Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) and your SMTP server does not support TLS or SSL natively, then you must have Stunnel installed on the SMTP server.
To send and respond to e-mail notifications with HTML attachments, your e-mail application should support HTML attachments and you should have a Web browser application that supports JavaScript and Frames to view the attachment.
To view Workflow Web pages, users need a Web browser application supported for Oracle E-Business Suite. See: R12: Recommended Browsers for Oracle E-Business Suite, My Oracle Support Knowledge Document 389422.1.
To sign notification responses with certificate-based digital signatures, you must use a PC with a supported version of Microsoft Windows. Additionally, you must access the notifications in the Oracle Workflow Web pages using a supported version of Microsoft Internet Explorer. See: Recommended Set Up for Client/Server Products with Oracle E-Business Suite 11i and R12 , My Oracle Support Knowledge Document 277535.1 and R12: Recommended Browsers for Oracle E-Business Suite, My Oracle Support Knowledge Document 389422.1.
If your Oracle E-Business Suite instance uses Java Web Start to launch Java applications, including the Status Monitor and the digital signature applet in Oracle Workflow, instead of using the Java Plug-in, then you may need to perform configuration steps specific to your browser. See: My Oracle Support Knowledge Document 2188898.1, Using Java Web Start with Oracle E-Business Suite.
Tip: No additional configuration steps are currently required to use Java Web Start with Microsoft Internet Explorer. Consequently, you do not need to perform any Java Web Start configuration for the digital signature applet, which is accessed only through Microsoft Internet Explorer, or for the Status Monitor if you access it through Microsoft Internet Explorer. However, configuration steps may be required if you access the Status Monitor through other browsers. Check document 2188898.1 for the latest requirements.
To use the Workflow XML Loader, you must have Java Development Kit (JDK) installed in a version supported by Oracle E-Business Suite. See: Overview of Using Java with Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12, My Oracle Support Knowledge Document 418664.1.
