During implementation, you set a value for each user profile option to specify how Work in Process controls access to and processes data.
Generally, the system administrator sets and updates profile values. See: Setting User Profile Options.
The table below indicates whether you can view or update the profile option, and at which System Administrator levels the profile options can be updated: User, Responsibility, Application, or Site. For a detailed description of each profile option, see: Profile Option Descriptions.
Oracle Applications has an extensive list of profile options, and profile options are defined in category types. The categories are used to control how the profile options are viewed in the interface, enabling you to view only those profile options pertaining to specific products or functions you are maintaining. You are required to provide a value for a Required profile option. An Optional profile option provides a default value, which you only need to change if you do not want to accept the default. The key to the following chart is as follows:
