Setting Up Contract Types

You need to specify a contract type for any new Repository contract that you create. For example, contract types that could be used are Non-Disclosure Agreement and Partnership Agreement. For more information, see the Creating Contracts section.

Your system administrator can define the contract types that your company supports.

Steps:

  1. Log in with the Contracts Workbench Administrator responsibility.

  2. Navigate to the Create Contract Type page.

    Navigation: Contract Types > Create Contract Type button

  3. In the Name field enter a unique identifier for the contract type. The contract type name must be unique across all organizations within the company.

  4. Enter a Description for the contract type.

  5. Use the Intent field to indicate the nature of the transaction between the parties in a contract of this type.

    The Intent indicates whether the contract is buy-side, sell-side, or other.

  6. In the Start Date field, enter the effective date for the contact type. This is the date that you can start using the contract type in Repository contracts.

  7. Optionally, enter the End Date for the contract type. After the End Date has passed, users cannot select the contract type for new contracts. However, for new versions of a contract, the contract type can remain the same even if the contract type is expired.

  8. Optionally, you can enable the following subentities: Parties and Contacts, Contract Terms, Deliverables, Documents, Related Contracts, Risks, Notes, and Controls.

    Selecting the Enable Contract Terms check box lets you include the contract term template while authoring the contract.

    Note: You can include terms only for the Sell or Buy intent and not for the Other intent.

  9. In the Document Controls region, you can perform the following: enable Display in Contracts Workbench or Allow Approver to Edit Document, select an Approval or Signature workflow, set a value for Autonumbering Enabled, and select a Layout Template.

    Note: The header information is displayed based on your layout template selection when you preview the contract.

  10. Click Apply.
