The progress options for the task type control how you collect and manage progress for a task. Different tasks within a workplan can have different task types. This provides you with the flexibility to define workplan tasks for which you do not need to track progress. You can change the default values for the following task progress options:

• Additional Information Page Layout: Select a page layout to display progress information. You can associate a different page layout with each unpublished task in a project. For information on defining page layouts, see: Page Layouts, Oracle Projects Implementation Guide.

• Physical Percent Complete Derivation Method: Select the derivation method that Oracle Projects uses to derive physical percent complete for the task. You can select Deliverable, Work Quantity, Cost, or Effort.

  Note: If you change the task type for a task, Oracle Projects does not reapply the physical percent complete derivation method from the new task type as the new default value for the task.

• Actual Work Quantity Entry Method: Select Actual to Date if you want to enter the total quantity of work completed to date when you collect progress for a work item. Select Actual Since Last Progress if you want to enter only the quantity of work completed since that last time you collected progress for a work item. A work item is an exact definition of the work being done on a workplan task. See: Defining Work Items, Oracle Projects Implementation Guide.

  You can update the actual work quantity entry method only if the task type enables work quantity for the task.

  The following two tables show examples of how you can enter work quantity for a task that requires the installation of 100 square feet of floor tiles. In both cases, the same amount of work quantity is entered for the provided dates.

  The table below shows entry of actual work quantity to date:
